Chinese New Year for Rabbits (2015-2023)
The Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, usually falls in January or February. During this time, it’s tradition for us to decorate our homes with festive symbols of luck, warmth, and new beginnings.
In 2015, I wanted to create a special celebration space for my rabbits. So I designed a set of rabbit-inspired decorations—like bunny versions of traditional deities such as the God of Wealth, the God of the Stove, and the God of Doors. I also made couplets to hang on their cages with my wishes for them, along with red envelopes, paper-cut window decorations, and festive hanging charms. Some of these designs were also shared through my online shop.
Over the years, more families have welcomed these designs into their homes, and many similar styles have appeared on the market. I take joy in that, because it means rabbits are being seen, cherished, and included in one of our most meaningful celebrations.
