WhenWhen people think of rabbits, they often picture white fur, big ears, and red eyes. But in reality, rabbits come in an incredible variety of breeds, colors, and personalities, far beyond what most imagine.
In August 2016, I began illustrating the many kinds of rabbits I encountered and learned about. I called the project An Illustrated Guide to Rabbit Breeds. By 2021, the first version already featured 74 unique breeds.
Now, I’m working on a second edition, with more detailed and lifelike depictions. So far, 23 breeds have been newly illustrated. My hope is that this book will do more than show how diverse and beautiful rabbits are, it will also help change how they’re seen.
In many places, including China, rabbits are rarely recognized as family members. Through this project, I hope to gently challenge that view. Rabbits are not lab tools or ingredients on a plate, they are sentient, sensitive beings who deserve to be seen, understood, and loved.
