Package Design for Rabbit Snacks (2013-2023)
Doo’s Candy House is an online shop where rabbit snacks, accessories, and essentials I make are sold. Since 2014, I have been independently developing a hundred various snacks. The materials, recipes, and packaging design are original and free of additives.
Timeline of Events for Bunny Birthday Cake
In 2015, I made the first rabbit cake on Taobao: an online shopping platform. For two years, I painted birthday cards for every customer who bought cakes. In 2016, I added more celebratory decorations to the bunny cake to create a more dramatic birthday ceremony atmosphere.
In 2018, to improve the shape of the cake, I designed and completed a new mold with the help of a 3D printing machine. The end result was a molder for a rabbit-shaped cake. In 2020, I redesigned all the molds for better selections and added guinea pig, chinchilla, and hamster cakes. In addition, dozens of new decorations—banners and background paintings—were added to provide more possibilities for furkids to have a terrific birthday party.
Motivation for Creating Dali Balls
In 2016, the corner of the mouth of the rabbit I rescued, Amy, was always swollen and festered for some reason; therefore, she could not eat and was even unwilling to have hay, causing her to suffer from gastrointestinal digestion. My eldest sister Rong was the baker of Doo’s Candy House at the time. To help Amy, she made mini balls out of hay powder-one of the raw materials for our rabbit snacks- for her. Rong deliberately did not add oats to the balls because they could harm Amy’s digestive system but added juice to ensure she would eat them. The little balls prevented her condition from aggravating due to a lack of fiber.
Amy’s condition made us discover that the oat-free pellets are perfect for rabbits whose desire to eat hay declined. Such rabbits become easily frightened, picky eaters, or sick. However, the digestive system structure of rabbits requires a certain amount of daily fiber intake, so it is essential to feed them fiber-rich food.
In the end, Rong and I improved the formulation of the mini balls and named them Dali Balls, which means full of energy. Since its creation, many little rabbits have benefited from it. I think Dali Balls invention is the best commemoration for Amy.
Herbal Geda
In 2018, Herbal Geda was made, a smaller version of Dali Balls but with two herbs that are beneficial for rabbits’ stomachs and digestion. These pellets are for rabbits that undergo surgery or with dental problems.
Zongzi for Rabbits
At the Dragon Boat Festival in 2015, my eldest sister Rong and I invented zongzi for rabbits. We replaced the reed leaves and cotton string with maize outer sheaths. Instead of using glutinous rice, we use grass powder and mixed it with fruit puree. Mimicking the triangular shape of Zongzi, we tied the mixture into a snack that can be eaten by rabbits both inside and out.
PP Candy
PP candy was the first rabbit treat I made. It was not made of sugar; it was just designed to look like candy. The letter “P” stands for butt because rabbits respond to their favorite treats by grabbing and running away with them, leaving their owners looking at their cute round butts.
